Tips & Treats for your bunny during the summer

Treats

These are some recipes I came up with to help my fellow bunny owners keep their bunnies happy, but also cool during the summer. If you want to share my ideas, please give credit. Thank you, and enjoy!

Bunny Ice Cream - Please see my post down below about this Recipe

Bunny Smoothie - Choose any fruits and veggies you want. Make sure to either use water, or all natural juice to blend with. Then simply blend and feed to your rabbit. Because fruits are so high in sugar, DO NOT feed your rabbit a whole cup. I feed my bunnies a little over 1/8 cup.

Bunny Freezers - I love making my bunnies their own popsicles. You will need fruit, water/ all natural fruit juice, and Popsicle makers (you can find these at your local dollar store). Please make sure the juice is all natural, a lot of juice (made for humans) has a lot of corn syrup in it, which can be harmful for your bunny. Next your going to want to put a layer of fruit in the popsicle maker. Then add some fruit juice. Then add another layer of fruit until the plastic popsicle maker is full. Lastly, stick it in the freezer for a couple hours and let it freeze. Be sure not to feed your bunny the whole thing, as it does contain a lot of sugar. Enjoy!

Frozen fruits- you can even freeze some of your bunnies favorite fruits and use them as a fun summertime snack.

Tips

Keeping your bunny cool in the summer is VERY important. Bunnies can easily die of heat stroke. Here are some friendly tips to help keep your buns cool during those hot summer days.

Ice and Ice Packs- Keeping your rabbits water cool is really important during the summer. Be sure to put some ice in the water every couple of hours. You can also give them a ice cube or two to play with or lick. Another thing you can do is use Blue Ice packs. My bunnies love to lay by them.

Tiles- My favorite idea to keep a bunny cool during the summer is to put a tile (You can find these at Home Depot or Lowes) in the refrigerator for a couple hours. Let it get cool. Then place it in the bunnies cage. My bunnies LOVE to lay on the cool tiles. It's not too cold, like ice, but its cool, and it really does help regulate their body temperature.

Water, Water, and Water - Water is probably the most important part of keeping your bunny cool. Make sure to give your rabbit fresh water daily.

The Breeze - Open a window and let the breeze in, if there is no wind then maybe put a fan in the room. Never face the fan directly in front of the cage.

Well that's all for now! Hope this helps you guys! If you have any questions feel free to ask.
